Artist's Note

When I began shaping this piece, I kept returning to Draupadi. Not the Draupadi who was silenced or humiliated, but the Draupadi whose rage lit up the darkness of injustice.

Her anger was not weakness. It was clarity. It was the refusal to bow to a world that had already taken too much.

We are often told anger is a bad thing, something to hide or suppress. But I have come to see it differently. Sometimes anger is a compass. Sometimes it is the body’s way of saying enough. It is not always destruction. It can also be dignity.

This piece is my attempt to hold that truth. Anger that protects. Anger that speaks.

Anger that refuses to let cruelty go unanswered. Anger that reminds us we are alive and that we will not be erased.

For me, anger is not just a fire that burns things down. It can also be a flame that lights the path forward.

Care

Each NOVI piece is a work of art, crafted with intention, layered in meaning, and made to last. To preserve its beauty, structure, and soul, we recommend:

- Gentle hand wash in cold water with mild detergent

- Do not bleach, tumble dry, or wring

- To retain color and shape, air dry flat, away from direct sunlight

- If ironing, use low heat with a protective cloth

- Avoid direct heat on embroidery, artwork, or embellishments

- Store in the NOVI dust bag when not in use to maintain its form and finish

These garments carry philosophy, craftsmanship, and story, wear them freely, but care for them deeply.

The Story

Anger was not a crack. It was a calling. This piece is an ode to anger as transformation, not chaos, but clarity. Not destruction, but purification. A bold volcano motif erupts across the fabric, hand-embroidered in four symbolic colours. Each shade represents a stage of emotional fire:. Trigger. Escalation. Explosion. Recovery. Crafted from 100% cotton and brought to life through over 80 hours of kantha embroidery by the women of Upraant, the stitchwork doesn’t just express rage it honours it. This is anger with direction. Energy with intent. A flame that doesn't burn everything down, only what no longer serves.
